Trudie Wijnen is an artist for whom painting is more than technique: it is a way of seeing, feeling, and connecting. She refines her craft at Art Academy Arendonk, exploring color, composition, layered techniques, and the development of her own visual language.
Her paintings emerge from observation and intuition, building in layers that gradually reveal a story. Guided by light, natural textures, emotion, and human expression, they explore harmony, energy, and what lies beneath the surface.
Each portrait in her 1000 Portrait Challenge is a moment of attention — sometimes rapid and intuitive, sometimes built layer by layer. Through repetition, a growing archive of human diversity, emotion, and expression emerges. The project is both practice and meditation, discipline and discovery. It forms a central thread in Trudie’s artistic development, showing how observation and repeated effort lead to depth, freedom, and richness in her work.
Another key project is Give Colour to Your Parents, an intimate exploration of origin, memory, and the colors that shape a life. Through these works, she seeks not only to portray, but to understand and connect with the deeper stories that color human experience.
